The United Nations has estimated that there are over 500,000 children in Sierra Leone that do not have access to basic education. Many of these children are orphaned, abandoned, disabled or have dropped out of school due to a lack of financial backing. The Vision: The vision of the All As One (AAO) School is to allow orphaned, abandoned, and destitute children the opportunity of an education that meets the structured educational processes of Sierra Leone. This will ensure that the children have the skills necessary to lead productive lives in future. The school would meet the educational needs of not only the children in AAO’s care, but also children in the local community. In total, over 300 children could be provided with a structured education in Phase One of the proposed All As One school. The AAO School Objectives: The objectives for the AAO School will be implemented as financial resources are available. The school will follow Sierra Leone’s structured educational system allowing children to attend six years of Primary School and then three years of Junior Secondary School. With funds available, three years of Senior Secondary School could also be provided. Following the completion of Junior Secondary School, children will have the opportunity to attend the AAO Vocational College or Senior Secondary School. The following is a list of programs that would be implemented through the AAO School: Fast-Track Literacy Training – to help vulnerable children “catch-up” in terms of literacy and opportunities. These children would eventually be mainstreamed back into the regular school system upon mastering basic skills. Emphasis would be placed on the students gaining the basic English and mathematics skills necessary for a foundation of learning. Primary School – to provide six years of primary school education as stipulated by the Sierra Leone Ministry of Education. Junior Secondary School - to provide three years of junior secondary school education as stipulated by the Sierra Leone Ministry of Education. Senior Secondary School – (funds permitting) to provide three years of senior secondary school education as stipulated by the Sierra Leone Ministry of Education. Computer Training – to provide an introduction to basic computer knowledge so students can broaden their skills.
