-  Sierra Leone has the world’s worst infant mortality rate.  Roughly 1 in 4 children die before they reach the age of 5.  More than half of these children will die of preventable causes, such as diarrhea, malnutrition or dehydration.

-  Sierra Leone has the highest childbirth mortality rate in the world.  1800 in 100,000 women die during childbirth, compared to 8 in 100,000 in the US.

-  Approximately 64% of Sierra Leoneans do not have access to medical care.

-  Sierra Leone is ranked last out of 177 countries evaluated by the United Nations, in an index comparing poverty, life expectancy, literacy, education, and other factors.

The war and subsequent return of refugees has put an enormous economic strain on the country.  There are no government-funded child welfare programs in Sierra Leone, making the need for organizations such as All As One even greater.

Without All As One, these children would be living on the streets.
